This is so simple to make and even easier to drink! Just mix up some dry milk powder, creamer, vanilla powder, orange peel, sugar and the magic ingredient, Vanilla instant pudding and you are going to have the most amazing hot drink you have ever tasted. This is also a nice gift for the people on your list who don’t really take a shine to regular chocolate. I am one of those people. I much prefer white chocolate over the milk or dark. Grating the white chocolate bar makes it easier to work with and makes it distribute throughout the mix much easier. Additionally, running it through the food processor is the best way to make a fine powder much like what you would get in a commercial mix. But this is 100 percent better because it is homemade! Purple drank, also known as “Sizzurp,” is a recreational drug popular in the hip-hop community, particularly in the southern US The main ingredient in purple drank is prescription-strength cough syrup that contains the drugs codeine and promethazine. To make purple drank, the cough syrup is mixed into a soft drink like 7-Up, or possibly with fruit juices or even wine. Pieces of Jolly Rancher candy or other hard candy may be added. Why purple drank? The concoction gets its name because the cough syrup’s dyes are often purple and, when mixed with a clear soft drink, the mixture takes on a purplish hue. Other possible slang terms for purple drank include “syrup,” “purple jelly” and “lean.” The “lean” term was coined in part because drinking the concoction can cause users to lose their balance and lean to one side. Purple drank has been touted in rap songs by numerous hip-hop artists, including Three 6 Mafia. In 2000, Three 6 Mafia released the song “Sippin’ on Some Syrup,” which brought the term “purple drank” to a nationwide audience. The group’s song “Rainbow Colors” pertains to the consumption of purple drank; the addition of a Jolly Rancher candy to a cup of purple drank creates a spectrum of colors, hence the name. Whenever I go home to Kansas City, my sisters and I have a bet over a game of bowling that ends with the loser doing something awful. Last year, Katie lost and had to do the Milk Gallon Challenge (seen here: www.youtube.com This year, Kayla’s penalty was drinking the Hell Smoothie. As agreed in the bet, the loser had to drink a smoothie prepared by the two winners. The two winners (Katie and myself) got to use any ingredient in the kitchen and throw it into a blender.
